Today in class we learned about the culture and history of African Americans in America. I learned about preconceived stereotypes about African Americans, and the lesson was interesting. We also learned about the African American community's cultural ideals, such as the ideal of bouncing back. I overall enjoyed the lesson and thought it was exciting and informative.

This class today was one of the most interesting classes I have had in a long time. I personally find it interesting that we have the tools to go back in time and look at the faces of our ancestors. So I enjoyed seeing Mr. Rease's background and it made me want to invest in a 23 and me.

Today in we reviewed the poem "Mother to Son" by Langston Hughes. I enjoyed the poem thoroughly and I liked finding the hidden meanings written between the lines. I also felt that it was very motivational and inspired me greatly. I at first did not realize it was written by Langston Hughes and thought it was really a letter from a mom to her son.

Today in class we reviewed words that were most offensive to us. This prompt I found to be very interesting and I liked hearing everyones response. The prompt made me think of every bad thing that had been uttered to me.

Today in class we read the story fences. I love the movie version of this story so hearing it in story form was fun. I always loved the acting in the movies but never really appreciated the dialogue and writing. But that changed after today I found the dialogue to be funny and intriguing.

We continued to read the play "Fences" today. One of my favorite scenes was read today in which Cory and Troy have an argument. I liked the duality between them and I felt that both of them were a little right. However I feel that Troy is too hard on his son and I also agree with Rose when she said that Troy didnt understand things were changing.
